Gacha is a video game franchise created by Lunime. It has a community of fans and content creators. Back in 2015-2017, the Gacha community was pretty obscure or basically non-existent due to the fact that older Gacha games simply didn't fit for mini movies. That is until 2018, when Gacha Life was released to the public and was considered a massive success for Lunime themselves and is considered one of the most popular apps on Google Play. Thanks to the popularity of the game, it spawned a huge community who would make tons of videos using the aforementioned app. 2018 was considered by many the Golden Age of the Gacha Community due to the huge creativity. 2019 was considered by people the start of a small decline of the community due to the content becoming somewhat more mature and kickstarted the notorious sexual content that is Gacha Heat and the videos were lazier and attempted to make dark videos with serious topics (such as suicide, bullying and abuse) with obvious fails, but it was still considered a decent year and is also considered part of the Golden Age. Since 2020, however, the Gacha community suffered from a massive downfall that severely gave the Gacha franchise by Lunime an extremely bad reputation due to the frequent use of Gacha Heat (which alone violates YouTube's TOS because it explicitly states that sexualization of childrens' game will result in a termination), annoying and obnoxious stereotypes, "edgy" videos, controversial trends and so on, which gave the Gacha community a reputation of being one of the worst and most toxic communities of all time.

Isn't it sad how a decent kids game can have the worst fanbase ever?

Why It Sucks Now

Note: Some videos are bad on purpose and overall, there's still good part of the community. Although, it is very small. This will focus on the reasons why the community is infamous.

1. The biggest and most important problem with the community is that most of the videos are about one disgusting and abhorrent content: Gacha Heat. Although this started back in 2019, it worsened in 2020 when many people noticed that YouTube and TikTok are too lazy to check which content is published or not and also because of the algorithm, it's really easy to exploit it and publish this content. To make matters worse is that YouTube doesn't even bother to ban these GachaTubers, even as far as letting the search prediction shows up "gacha heat🥵" everytime when you type the letter "g" on the search bar, proving once again that it has no quality control.
   • And the idea itself of pornography recreated in Gacha is disgusting and extremely bad, even outside of these two websites, because not only it's sexualization of a children's game, but it can also fool kids into believing they're watching something safe when in reality, they're not.
   • In fact, a large amount of children in the Gacha community make Gacha Heat (the most infamous example being Kailah Gaming).
2. The community is full of cringe content that can be absolutely atrocious or downright hilarious, and it's unlikely to stop because of how big the community is. There was even a subreddit dedicated to such content called r/GachaLifeCringe, which gained 342k members before it was shut down. An infamous example of cringe content in the Gacha community includes when kids try to make depressed and "sad" OCs that want to commit suicide, but instead comes off as laughable.
3. A large amount of GachaTubers make fake exposing videos. These videos often include petty, nonsensical reasons or just lies. Sure there are fake exposing videos out of the Gacha Community but here is just worse. The most notorious example of having fake exposed videos is Luni, which was started with a pretty decent video by GalaxyIsOk critiquing Luni with constructive criticism and his habit of barely updating his games (due to him leaving a 18+ chat, despite rating the game for 3 years old after it became popular with kids), but once that video exploded in popularity, the channels decided to milk this by blaming Luni on everything that isn't even his own fault.
4. Gacha Life Music Videos: They are music videos animated in Gacha. But the problem is that most GachaTubers attempt to profit from copyrighted songs without knowledge that using too much of them will result them in getting a copyright strike.

6. They also ignore the bad side! Not being rude, but the reason why people talk about the bad side of the community, is because they can affect people and they ignore it! At least the Vyond community knows their community is toxic, This community ignores it
7. They try to save the community, on practice this seems like a good idea, but it's not going to work because, A: The community is huge and B: Not everyone listens, which causes the community to mess up at times.
8. Mean-spirited videos: There's a good part of GachaTubers that make mean-spirited content, with the GachaTuber often bullying another OC. Someone would say this is in par with the Vyond Grounded videos, but those have at least an excuse to make mean-spirited videos. Here, the GachaTubers literally bully for no reason. One of the infamous examples is gacha_queen 424, who often beats up another female OC by saying that she deserves it, when in reality, she doesn't.
9. Sometimes, one GachaTuber makes an original and good meme which is later remade by multiple GachaTubers. This is in par with milking a franchise, except, memes dry up quickly and they later switch into another memes. Not only can this ruin the charm the a meme, but it also makes it boring. This is one of the main reasons why there are Top 10s Gacha Memes.
10. Speaking of trends, the community mostly makes memes that range from questionable to flat out controversial, with the worst offenders being Crime meme, Tag, You're It, Smile smile meme and etc...
11. GachaTubers often make videos about depression with zero knowledge of what depression really is. As a result, as mentioned in WISN#2, instead of being sad videos, they come off as laughable. This is also extremely disrespectful to people who actually suffered from depression and committed suicide.
    • They also tried to mock people's deaths!!! Examples include: Lizzy_Winkle, tweekerpop, Technoblade and others!
12. Gacha Brats: They're just brats shown in a non-realistic way or in a stereotypical way instead of an original OC. They're just blonde girls with a Barbie dress that literally bully for petty reasons or no reasons at all.
13. Stereotypes are rampant here, with OCs having same styles that can be repetitive and boring. These stereotypes can be demon-angels, house maids, brats, demons and more. One user on Quora pointed out a GLMV (Gacha Life Music Video), where it contains a stereotype while explaining why the Gacha community is horrible. It explained that the protagonist is basically a Mary Sue, since it has no flaws.
14. There are some GachaTubers out there that protect or outright support pedophiles and people who participate in incest, with some of them without knowing the problems with a minor and adult dating. As a result, they often ship family members and ship adults with minors (one of the infamous examples is Emma x Isabella from The Promised Neverland) and thus, causing major backlash.
15. The TikTok compilations on YouTube started to downgrade pretty badly, from relatively simple for people who don't use TikTok to horrendous clickbait with thumbnails that contain Gacha Heat, when the video actually doesn't contain any of that.
16. The Gacha Mini Movies/Movies. These videos are notorious for their ridiculous stories with nonsensical and laughing-stock titles. These stories can go from mediocre to stupid and unoriginal such as "My husband is a billionaire".
17. Sometimes you will see the Gacha thumbnails as ads, which shows the poor control of advertisements on YouTube.
18. They literally insult actual criticism in two modes: By calling them haters when starting the video or responding them, instead of just explaining why they make such content or at least ignore it.
19. UwU cats are literally everywhere. These are just mini guys with cats and maid's outfit who have a relationship with a demon and if they get or feel hurt, they will become devils and "depressed". You see how non-sensical these are.
20. Usage of other media (such as video games, TV shows, movies, etc.) and ruining them and their Fandoms, causing to destroy the reputation of good tv shows, video games and more. Cartoons and animes are mostly used here but some video games are also used. Here's a list of most used cartoons, animes, comics, movies and games on Gacha videos: My Hero Academia, Miraculous, Super Mario, Five Nights at Freddy's, Undertale, Danganronpa, Friday Night Funkin’, The Henry Stickmin Collection, Battle for Dream Island, Doki Doki Literature Club, Naruto, South Park, Pokémon, The Promised Neverland, Amanda the Adventurer, Kakegurui, Sonic the Hedgehog, JOJO’S Bizarre Adventures and more. This can destroy more the reputation of the cartoons and shows that already suffered from ratings decline due to seasonal rot. To make matters worse, they make some kids shows for adults due to usage of NSFW when shipping.
21. The content was so bad that in the Brazilian news broadcast known as 'Balanço Geral Curitiba', there was a news story about Gacha Life.
22. The worst part is that 2021-2023 sped up the downfall of the community, with the popularity of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir and more awful trends popping up such as Crime meme and so on.
23. Overall, these issues made the Gacha community a corrupt shell of its former self. These videos made Gacha Life and Gacha Club gain an awful reputation and caused most great GachaTubers and TikTokers to quit both platforms and both YouTube and TikTok don't even bother to delete most of these videos. Although, the downfall somewhat started in the second half of 2019 (mainly because of the GLMVs like Happy Pills), 2020 was when the downfall was solidified. And it sped up since 2021. This also caused anti-gachas to mock people in the community by calling them "gacha Kids".

Redeeming Qualities

2. A lot of people want to improve the community by making better content or supporting Luni, the creator of Gacha Life and Gacha Club. So, if you want to be in the good side, support Luni.
3. It used to be good before 2019/2020.

Bad GachaTubers

NOTE: Please refrain any ill will form of harassment towards these GachaTubers. Not only it would violate the Content Policy, but it's also not worth beating on some dead horses. Anyone who does that, will be dealt with.

• Kailah gaming (the most infamous example, banned) - Posts cringe videos, can't take criticism, makes various memes about serious topics, hates Astri-Nomical because she's black, makes fake exposing videos and faked her death multiple times.
• gacha_queen 424 (another infamous example, active) - Bullies her innocent OCs, can't take criticism by insulting legitimate criticism.
• Savage_Cupcake00/Howyoudoing33 (Inactive, deleted videos) - Claimed that an user is homophobic just because they criticized their video of Deku x Bakugou and misunderstands sexualities.
• Nehema Rahman (Active) - Makes intentional clickbait thumbnails that can actually trigger people and very immature towards criticism.
• Wise Fox (Active) - Makes intentional clickbait thumbnails that can actually trigger people and he's self-centered.
• LenTotally (banned) - It was discovered that he's a pedophile.
• Hatsumi Rou (Inactive, deleted videos) - Exposed for the same reason as LenTotally, guilt tripped her audience and victim, made an Half-Baked apology and devastated everyone in the community because she used to be their idol.

Good GachaTubers

• RosyClozy (The most famous example, active) - Known to make a web series with a great animation.
• Milyie (Another most famous example, active) - Handles serious topics very well and makes great animated videos.
• Rosie and Maria (Active) - They make Miraculous videos that are faithful to the source material, decent editing and the characters (for the most part) kept their charm. However, they can make occasional clickbait and replaced some characters, most notably Marinette's father.
• ImNotReal (Active) - A FNaF GachaTuber that cares about her fans, makes videos that are either funny or serious and stays very faithful to the source material.
• 「 xZike _RAP 」 (Active) - a GachaTuber who rants towards other GachaTubers with plausible reasons, can take criticism, makes decent jokes and criticized the hatred towards the Gacha Muslim community. Sadly, he recently got hacked into a propaganda channel.
• Flotalendy (Active) - Makes proper criticism, her videos are entertaining, and managed to defeat Nehema Rahman during their feud.
• iCherry (Active)
• Infinite Edgy (Active)
